Our Platform
The Anti-DH Party
What Do You Stand For (1 Main Idea) (3 or more sentences
/ bullet points):
·
The Anti-DH party believes that the designated
hitter is an affront to baseball tradition and that it should be eliminated at
all levels of baseball. We believe that
baseball is at its best when all nine ballplayers play in the field and at the
bat.
What Do You Want to Fix (3 or more sentences/bullet
points):
·
The Anti-DH party believes that the creation of
the DH in the American League in 1973 has led to declining interest in
baseball. In order to increase interest
in America’s pastime, we believe that the game must return to its roots where
nine men play the field and hit.
What barriers do you want to overcome? (List three things
stopping you from solving the problem and how these barriers can be overcome)
The DH is upheld by the commissioner of baseball
and the toleration of the American people.
In order to change the system, the party must overcome two
barriers.
·
First, we must remove the current commissioner,
Rob Manfield, by engaging in a boycott of all games played with the Designated
Hitter. This loss of revenue will
convince the owners to remove the commissioner and appoint one who is against
the DH in all its nefarious forms.
·
Next, Congress must act to pass a law that
restricts all government funding in transporting people to and from a stadium
where the DH is used. Congress must not
appropriate funds for any roads, interstate exchanges, mass transit options, or
sidewalks to a park that allows this abomination to continue.
Who are our constituents? (List three types of people who
would support your party)
·
The Anti-DH party is a party of traditional
American values. As such, we are
supported by Americans who believe that the solutions of the past are good
enough for the present.
